Balanced, Bold and Beautiful!

The owners of this kitchen already knew they wanted arched natural maple cabinets with quartz countertops. I recommended that they keep the wood floor and paint the walls red. They also knew they wanted Viking appliances and that is how they found me...through my appliance store: Castleberry's in Chamblee, GA.

Since this is a galley kitchen, we added some depth and dimension by bumping out the sink cabinet and the cabinet under the microwave. Bunn feet were added to the 'bump out'. This added interest from the front of the cabinet and the counter top by breaking the straight lines up a little bit.

The counter top oven and drop in stove top were replaced with a slide in stove/oven. The microwave vent top was replaced with an open stainless vent hood.

The pantry closet was replaced with a pantry cabinet with full slide out shelves. This feature made enough room to add another base and wall cabinet and another 15" of much needed counter space.

Not pictured is a 12" deep pantry that is at the end of the refrigerator wall and just outside of the laundry room. The laundry room was enlarged by taking the bathtub out of the bathroom next door and moving the wall.

I first met with these clients in late August and we started construction the first week of November. They were able to cook Thanksgiving in their new kitchen!!!

Here are the before and after pictures of the kitchen:

Renovation Project Management...the other bathroom vanity

More before and after photos for your viewing pleasure...
I will be starting a series of before and after 'clutter'...so stay tuned.

We changed the mirror to one that is more up to date and the scale is more correct.
Again, we raised to vanity to counter height and painted it a nice gray color to pick up the gray in the new 3 cm granite that was chosen.
The wall had a sharp texture and and a sort of faux finish. We were able to 'knock down' the sharp points of the texture with sanding and then painting with an eggshell paint helped smooth out the surface visually.
We also were able to use the light fixture that was taken out of the master vanity. Recycling at it's best!!

Renovation Project Management with Feng Shui...

Today's pictures are the before and after of the Master Bedroom Vanity area...

We kept the original vanity cabinet and raised it to counter height, painted it and replaced the pulls. The red paint color matches the accent walls in the master bedroom. One of the reasons we chose red here is because it is located in the Love and Relationship area.
We used granite found in the 'bone yard' of a granite supplier so it was less expensive. The new sink is a white porcelain under mount. The fawcett is new and was under $100.00.
The framed mirror is larger and we paid $50.00. This is the same price that you would pay for an unframed mirror.
The color of the walls changed from sad gray to a warm buff.
We splurged on the light fixture and spent just under $300.00 but we thought it was worth it!

Renovation Project Management with Feng Shui...

The picture above is the "before" picture of the dining room. The changes we made are:
Smoothed ceilings by scraping off 'popcorn'. This makes the ceilings actually appear higher.
We added more trim to the crown molding. This makes the room feel more formal and finished and it also helps give the feeling of higher ceilings.
We took the mirror down from the top part of the wall and painted the right and left mirrors to look like regular walls. This updated the '80's mirrored wall while keeping the mirror to help reflect light and energy into the small 'inside' space.
We replaced the light fixture with a more up to date chandelier that feels more formal and 'light'.
We painted a healthy and alive green color to enhance the "health" area of this property.
We opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room and added a bar 'pass through' and also carved out the door wall to make the kitchen feel more open. The kitchen feels more open while the normal kitchen clutter will still be behind walls and not visible from the rest of the space.

Tomorrow I will share more before and after photos of this project.

Beautiful Representation of you...

Home staging can be used for the sale of your home by DE-personalizing so that potential buyers can see themselves living in the space.
The 'flip side' of this 'use what you have decorating' is that your new home can be "staged and completely Personalized" for you.
Because I use Feng Shui in the mix when working with my clients, I also do what I call 'on purpose' decorating. Using things that my clients love in the right places to bring about a more balanced lifestyle.
My goal is to always balance an environment whether it be for the quick sale of a house or for the long term enjoyment of the people living in the space. I know that when my clients use the 'love' word when describing what we choose to bring into their environment that we are on the right track.
When you walk through your home or office...do you love what you see? If so, your life is probably working very well. If not, maybe it's time to look at making some changes so that you can use the "love' word regularly!

Sell your home faster...50% faster!

Using Feng Shui when you stage your home will help you sell it faster and for a higher price.

Combining Feng Shui and Home Staging helps my clients sell their homes fast. Statistics show that staged homes sell 50% faster and for 6.9% more than homes that have not been staged. Feng Shui, which is the art of balancing the seen and unseen elements or forces, assists in this process. There are 71,000 homes for sale in the metro Atlanta area.

Home Stagers are trained professionals who know how to change an environment so potential buyers can see themselves living in it. I use Feng Shui because it is practical and makes sense. The first thing we look at with Feng Shui is safety. When this is used for the potential sale of a home then anyone entering will automatically feel safe. We’re dealing with subtle and subconscious forces and sensibilities. People can not always articulate what they feel in a particular environment but they usually know when it feels like somewhere they want to spend time or somewhere they want to leave.

The buzzword for 2007, according to Chinese Astrologers is the combination of water and fire or steam. “This energy is going to cause big movements and big changes. Working with Feng Shui in any year means balancing all 5 elements. For instance, bring in plants as the wood element. Add mirrors to bring in the water element. Add round or oval objects as the metal element. Display animal prints for the fire element. And add earth tones as the earth element.”

There is more to Feng Shui, than the mere presence of the elements. “The physical placement of everything causes the energy to flow or be blocked and it is the natural and powerful flow of energy that is the goal. A visually pleasing scene is a by-product of having all the elements balanced in a particular environment.
I am a very practical Stager and Feng Shui Practitioner. As much as possible I work with my clients’ existing furniture and accessories. “Feng Shui is happening all the time. The fun and power is doing it or using it consciously and intentionally.
